Massage therapy is an integral piece of holistic medicine and as a practice, dates back thousands of years. Currently there are over 80 types of massage therapy in practice. I focus on three. My massage training includes Deep Tissue, Orthopedic Treatments, and Sports Massage; each designed to help you get to best self.

Pain and Stress Reduction

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

It’s hard to feel like your best self when you are in pain and overly stressed. With a deep tissue massage, your body and mind will feel free and clear of all worries and stressors that life places upon us.  This style of massage therapy uses slow strokes and firm pressure to reach the deep layers of muscle and their connective tissues, known as fascia. It is a slower technique with a deeper pressure concentrating on areas of tension and pain.

ORTHOPEDIC TREATMENTS

Orthopedic massage uses anatomical science and a variety of body manipulation techniques to create measurable, meaningful impact. Orthopedic surgeons correct skeletal deformities and injuries. Orthopedic massage therapists use alignment and release techniques. Bears many similarities to Russian massage, physical therapy, and Rolfing. Involves detailed anatomical knowledge understanding the way soft tissues (muscles, tendons, and fascia) influence the musculoskeletal system and manipulate trigger areas to release bodily tension, decrease pain, and increase mobility.

SPORTS MASSAGE

Geared towards athletes of all types, whether you’re training for an Iron Man or a weekend hiker. In sports massage, we focus on the areas that are overused and stressed from repetitive and aggressive movements. Whether you’re looking to enhance pre-event preparation or reduce recovery time, athletes have found that sports massage promotes flexibility, reduces fatigue, improves endurance, helps prevent injuries and prepares the body and mind for optimal performance.
